Jeff Ostrow is the Managing Partner and founder of Kopelowitz Ostrow. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations and the strategic direction of the firm, he also maintains a full-time law practice in the areas of consumer class actions and commercial litigation. Mr. Ostrow is an AV® Preeminent™ rated attorney in both legal ability and ethics, the highest possible rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the most widely recognized attorney rating organization in the United States.
He currently serves as counsel to multiple Fortune 500 Companies. Mr. Ostrow has handled cases that have been covered by media outlets throughout the country and has been quoted many times on various legal topics in most major newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Seattle Times, Miami Herald, and Sun-Sentinel. He has also appeared on CNN, ABC, CBS, FoxNews, ESPN, and other major national television networks in connection with the representation of his clients.
Mr. Ostrow is an accomplished trial attorney who represents both Plaintiffs and Defendants. He has successfully tried to verdict numerous cases involving multi-million dollar damage claims before both juries and judges in state and federal Courts. Currently, Mr. Ostrow serves as lead or co-lead counsel in nationwide and statewide class action lawsuits against twenty of the largest financial institutions in the country in connection with their unlawful assessment of checking account overdraft fees. He has also led class actions against United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Microsoft, and eleven of the largest oil companies in the world. In addition to representing Plaintiffs, Mr. Ostrow has also had the pleasure of defending corporations in class actions, including banking institutions, real estate developers, and mortgage companies.
Additionally, he has extensive experience in all variations of business litigation and has represented clients in complex corporate transactions. Mr. Ostrow often serves as outside General Counsel to companies, where he counsels clients in connection with litigation strategy, entity formation and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, by and between private and public entities, and in all types of contracts. In the past year alone, he has represented clients involving transactions that range in value from $30,000,000 to over $60,000,000.
Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Ostrow was in-house counsel for a major national corporation. Before practicing law, he received a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida and Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. Mr. Ostrow is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida, Western District of Wisconsin, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He has also been admitted to practice in many other federal district courts and state courts around the country, including the Western District of Missouri, Western District of Oklahoma, Northern District of Illinois, and Northern District of Georgia. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Florida Justice Association, and founder and current President of Class Action Lawyers of America.
Mr. Ostrow is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum is the most prestigious group of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won multi-million dollar verdicts. Additionally, he has been recognized as one of Florida's "Legal Elite Attorneys," a finalist for the "South Florida Business Journal's Key Partners Award," and named one of the top lawyers in Florida by "Super Lawyers." When not practicing law, Mr. Ostrow serves on the Board of Governors of Nova Southeastern University’s Wayne Huizenga School of Business, is a Member of the Broward County Courthouse Advisory Task Force, and is the Managing Member of One West Las Olas LLC, a commercial real estate development company. He has also previously sat on the board of a national banking institution and a national healthcare marketing company. |
